Hey everyone, as promised, we’re back with some diversified blog content. A couple weeks ago, I checked out Bong Joon Ho’s new Sci-fi release, Mickey 17. Being a Sci-fi writer, I wanted to pen some thoughts on the film!

THE COLD is a short story exploring companionship, comfort and mortality, as an unprecedented storm hits a nigh-deserted research outpost in Antarctica. Our two protagonists begin the story as strangers, but end it… as something much more. Warning…this one gets emotional.

It’s been close to nine months since I began working seriously on this project, and I’m excited to say I’m on track to meet my original goal of completing the second draft by the end of February 2025.

So, what next?

Whenever I have the joy of discussing my novel with an interested party, one of the first questions I receive is “what drew you to writing Sci-Fi?”

Something a little different for you this evening!

Today, I will be sharing a small excerpt that I feel represents this project and might catch your interest! This piece occurs rather late on, at around page 280, but I feel stands on its own as a hook into the world I’ve created…

Last week, I wrote about the philosophy, discipline and methodology behind my writing process. Today, I’d like to talk a bit more humorously on the subject. We all have times where we need to knuckle down and complete those focus-driven tasks, but what is it that pushes us out of the procrastination phase into actual… action?
